It is our usual recommendation where darkening is genuinely pigment rather than hair shadow — elbows, knees, bikini line, and underarms already cleared of coarse hair.

How it works

Filtered light is absorbed by concentrated melanin in the upper layers of the skin.
The pigment absorbs that energy and breaks into smaller particles.
Your body clears those particles gradually through its natural processes over the following weeks.
Because clearing is gradual, tone evens out progressively rather than changing overnight.

Who it suits — and who it does not

Clients with uneven tone or dark patches on underarms, elbows, knees or the bikini line.
Post-inflammatory darkening from shaving, waxing or deodorant irritation.
It works on pigment. Darkening caused by coarse hair under the skin responds better to UA diode laser, and many clients do both.
Settings are adjusted for your skin tone. Deeper Filipino skin types are treated conservatively to avoid burning or post-inflammatory darkening — the opposite of the intended result.

What happens in a session

A patch assessment is done before your first full session.
The area is cleansed and cooling gel applied.
You will see bright flashes through closed eyes and feel brief warmth with each pulse.
Treated pigment may darken slightly before flaking away over the following one to two weeks. This is expected.

Aftercare

Sun protection for at least a week is not optional — UV exposure on freshly treated skin is the fastest route to rebound pigmentation.
Skip harsh scrubs, acids and retinol for a few days.
Keep the area moisturised.
Avoid deodorant on treated underarms for around 24 hours.

How many sessions before I see a difference?

Most clients notice gradual evening of tone after 3 to 4 sessions, with a typical course running 4 to 8 sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. Results depend on how deep the pigment sits and what caused it.

Will my skin go back to being dark?

Pigment can return if the original cause continues. Ongoing shaving irritation, friction from tight clothing, deodorant sensitivity and sun exposure all contribute. Addressing the cause is what makes results last.

What is the difference between IPL whitening and diode laser?

Diode laser targets hair follicles and reduces the shadow coarse hair casts under the skin. IPL targets pigment already in the skin. They solve different problems, and clients with both issues often combine them.

Can IPL be used on the face?

Yes, for facial pigmentation and uneven tone, with settings adjusted for facial skin. Your therapist will assess whether IPL or a facial treatment such as Facial PDT suits your concern better.
